Accessibility Statement
Missouri Association of Counties | www.mocounties.com
The Missouri Association of Counties (MAC) is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We are actively working to improve the accessibility of our website to ensure that we provide equal access and opportunity for all.
Conformance Status
We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities.
We commissioned a WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility audit of this website in March 2026. The automated phase of that audit was completed on March 25, 2026, and identified the following categories of issues currently present on the website:
Some images do not have text descriptions (alt text) for screen reader users
Some links do not have readable text that describes their destination
Some text may not have sufficient color contrast against its background
Some interactive elements are missing accessible labels
One or more embedded frames (iframes) do not have accessible names
We are actively remediating these issues. Manual accessibility testing — including keyboard navigation, NVDA screen reader, and color contrast verification — is scheduled for completion by April 24, 2026. This statement will be updated with the results of manual testing at that time.
Our Commitments
Automated audit findings: We are remediating the issues identified by automated testing, aiming to complete by May 24, 2026.
Manual testing: We are scheduling keyboard navigation and screen reader testing to be completed by April 24, 2026. Any additional findings will be added to this statement and remediated within 60 days of that date.
Ongoing practice: Going forward, we will incorporate accessible practices into our everyday content work, including writing descriptive alt text for new images and ensuring new links have meaningful text.
Remediation Plan
Our remediation is being completed in three phases:
Phase 1 — Automated findings remediated by May 24, 2026
Phase 2 — Manual testing (keyboard navigation, screen reader, color contrast) completed by: April 24, 2026
Phase 3 — Manual testing findings remediated by June 23, 2026
This Accessibility Statement will be updated with the results of manual testing upon completion of Phase 2 on April 24, 2026.
Manual Testing
The current audit covers only automated testing. Manual testing — including keyboard navigation, NVDA screen reader testing, and color contrast verification — will be completed by April 24, 2026. Findings from manual testing will be added to this statement at that time.

This statement was prepared by 54 Design Group, LLC, on behalf of the Missouri Association of Counties. Audit date: March 25, 2026.
A Note on Ongoing Accessibility
Web accessibility is an ongoing commitment, not a one-time achievement. Websites change continuously — new content is added, platforms are updated, and third-party tools evolve — which means that complete conformance at any given moment is not always fully achievable. What matters most is that accessibility is treated as a genuine, sustained priority: remediating known issues promptly, building accessible practices into everyday content work, and responding openly to feedback from users with disabilities. That is the commitment the Missouri Association of Counties is making through this audit and the remediation work that follows.
