The Missouri Association of Counties (MAC) is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We are actively working to improve the accessibility of our website to ensure that we provide equal access and opportunity for all.

Measures to support accessibility

Missouri Association of Counties takes the following measures to ensure accessibility of the Missouri Association of Counties (MAC):

  • Include accessibility in our mission statement.

  • Include accessibility throughout our internal policies.

  • Provide continual accessibility training for our staff.

  • Employ formal accessibility quality assurance methods.

Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Missouri Association of Counties (MAC) is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

Our Commitments

  • Ongoing practice: Going forward, we will incorporate accessible practices into our everyday content work, including writing descriptive alt text for new images and ensuring new links have meaningful text.

Technical specifications

Accessibility of the Missouri Association of Counties (MAC) relies on the following technologies to work with the particular combination of web browser and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer:

  • HTML

  • WAI-ARIA

  • CSS

These technologies are relied upon to ensure conformance with the accessibility standards in use.

Known Limitations

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of the Missouri Association of Counties (MAC), there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations and potential solutions. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below.

Known limitations for the Missouri Association of Counties (MAC):

  1. Squarespace Default Calendar: Invalid ARIA Label because it cannot be resolved, as this is a Squarespace Platform issue. We are working toward a script override to correct the issue.

  2. The flagged aria-label attribute on div#movie_player is injected by YouTube's embedded player and resides within a cross-origin iframe. This element is outside the control of the page author. The containing <iframe> element has been given a descriptive title attribute per WCAG Technique H64, which satisfies the accessible name requirement for embedded content at the page level. Full remediation of the inner player DOM requires action by YouTube/Google.

Formal Complaints

If you are not satisfied with our response to your accessibility concern, you may contact the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division or the U.S. Access Board for further assistance.

A Note on Ongoing Accessibility

Web accessibility is an ongoing commitment, not a one-time achievement. Websites change continuously — new content is added, platforms are updated, and third-party tools evolve — which means that complete conformance at any given moment is not always fully achievable. What matters most is that accessibility is treated as a genuine, sustained priority: remediating known issues promptly, building accessible practices into everyday content work, and responding openly to feedback from users with disabilities. That is the commitment the Missouri Association of Counties is making through this audit and the remediation work that follows.
